Tracking Dividends
Stay on top of payout schedules, ex-dividend dates, and projected income across your portfolio. Dividend data refreshes daily as companies declare payments and forecasts update.
Two income numbers, two purposes
Forward Income is today's run-rate (what you'd earn if every company kept paying exactly what it pays now). Forecasted Dividends project each future payment individually — timing, growth, and confidence included. Both appear on your dashboard; they answer different questions.
Step-by-Step
1. Open your portfolio dashboard
Go to Portfolios, select a portfolio, and land on the Overview tab. The top KPI row shows your forward 12-month income and forward yield — your portfolio's current dividend run-rate at today's rates.
2. Review the payout schedule on Overview
Scroll to Expected Annual Income for monthly and daily averages, YTD progress toward your income goal, and Next 30 days expected — a near-term payout total. The bar chart below Goal Progress compares realized vs forecasted income month by month.
3. Use the Income tab for payment tracking
Switch to the Income tab to see annual income, YTD realized, and projected totals. The Upcoming payouts (90d) table lists every expected payment with ticker, date, status (Declared or Forecasted), confidence tier, and dollar amount — grouped by month.
4. Open the Calendar tab for ex-dates and pay dates
The Calendar tab shows a month-by-month grid of dividend events on your holdings. Click any event for amount, yield, payment date, and declared vs forecasted status. The header summarizes declared and expected dollar totals for the selected month.
5. Check next ex-dividend dates in Holdings
On the Holdings tab, the Next ex-date column shows when each position goes ex-dividend. You must own shares before the ex-date to receive that payment. Accurate share counts from your transactions drive all payout amounts — see Adding Transactions if anything looks off.
6. Model DRIP in Goals & What-If
To see how reinvesting dividends compounds your income over time, open Goals & What-If and toggle DRIP on or off in the projection settings. This models dividend reinvestment in your long-range income forecast — separate from the cash payout schedule shown on Income and Calendar.
Declared vs. Forecasted
Declared payouts are confirmed by the company — amount and date are known. Forecasted payouts are projected from each holding's payment history and growth patterns; they carry a confidence tier (High, Medium, or Low) so you know how much to trust the estimate.
Forecast dates may fall on weekends or holidays and can shift when companies announce official schedules. Check the Calendar tab regularly as ex-dates approach.
